Naio’s baby sister, Ahi, was lost in the forest at the edge of the city.
Each Friday after school Naio takes the train to the end of the line, gets out at the last stop, and cycles the dusty country roads that lead to the forest.
And there, at the edge of the forest, Naio remains, unable to go in. Listening to the forest breathe, feeling the mist descend, and wondering if Ahi could feel these same things, under the forest canopy, under that same cover of sky.
